What do we do?

We make everything easy for you! To prove our point, you can read through the entire process from the moment you contact us to the moment you’ve satisfied the state of California’s ignition interlock device requirements.

The first step you’ll need to take is to call us at 1-877-715-2253 or fill out your information here on the website. Upon calling, you will speak to one of our exceptionally friendly receptionists to get a little bit of information about you and to find out why you are calling. If you are calling to inquire about installing an ignition interlock device, you will be transferred to one of our sales associates who will answer any questions you may have about the device and the process.

If you choose to move forward with us via phone, we will request your first and last name, your driver’s license number, and your email address. If you choose to fill out all of the information via our secure online form, we will just gather that information directly from our site.

Once we have your information, we will call the Department of Motor Vehicles -Mandatory Actions Unit to confirm your eligibility for installing an ignition interlock into your motor vehicle. If you are eligible, we will email you a Docusign contract agreement to the email address that you provided to us. The DocuSign contractual agreement we send to you is a general contractor that allows you to provide us with all of the other information (VIN, License plate #, etc.) needed to prepare what’s called a DL920 (Verification of Installation of Ignition Interlock Device) form.

One of our associates will then contact you to discuss their conversation with the DMV as well as organize a convenient window of time for you to set up the installation and confirm authorization of payment.

Once we’ve scheduled an appointment, we will process your payment, email you a receipt, and one of our associates will calibrate your device and register it to you. We will then prepare the DL920 form for you, emboss the form, and hand it to one of our very qualified installers to install the device into your vehicle. As soon as you have made an installation appointment, one of our installers will contact you before the window of time that was discussed to provide you with a more specific time of when they will be arriving. Our installer will greet you, check your identification and registration and install the ignition interlock device into your vehicle. This will take him anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the year, make, and model of your vehicle.

Once our installer has completed the installation, he will sign and present you with the embossed DL920 form that you will need to take to the Department of Motor Vehicles in order to begin getting credit for the installation of the device.

The Department of Motor Vehicles will then issue you a temporary valid driver’s license with the restriction that you cannot operate any motor vehicle that does not have an ignition interlock device installed. They will also mail you a government-issued driver’s license with said restriction printed on the back. (You’re legal to drive again!) 0 days following the installation, you will be contacted to calibrate the device. You have a couple of options in regard to this process. We could either send someone to you to calibrate the device at the location of your choice or you could come into one of our authorized installers to have the device calibrated. Calibrations are needed to make sure that there is no tampering with the device per California State Law. You will be notified at this calibration that another calibration is mandated within 60 additional days.

Once you’ve satisfied the time that the Department of Motor Vehicles required you to complete, you can either give us a call, or we will give you a call to have the device removed. One of our associates will notify one of our technicians in your area, and that technician will show up at a location convenient for you to remove the device. If a technician is not available, we will designate one of our many locations to have the device professionally removed. Upon removal, our technician will notify us of completion, and we will file what’s called a DL922 (Ignition Interlock Notice of Removal) with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

It will then be your responsibility to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles to request a new license following the removal of the ignition interlock device. There is no rush on this however as the restriction that is printed on the back of your license is no longer valid as you have satisfied the requirements of the DMV, but if you want to get that restriction taken off of your driver’s license, you will need to contact the DMV in person to request a new driver’s license (And you’re free!!!)
